ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Jeff Goldblum stars in this supernatural thriller about a
man who comes back from the dead.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - A few kisses between a man and woman. The couple is shown
having sex with slight thrusting and moaning. We don't see nudity and the scene is brief
and in the cover of darkness.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A young boy impales himself with a knife. A woman and girl
are shown dead. Hell is depicted using computer graphics with writhing tendrils, etc. A
medical procedure involving a bloody incision. Several visions of a girl having her throat
slit, and having her eyes poked out. A woman's throat is slit, another is strangled. A
shaving scene results in a cut on the face and hand. A bloody corpse falls out of a
refrigerator. A man is stabbed, and another is shot.
PROFANITY 6 - About 10 F-words, half a dozen scatological terms and a couple
of milder obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Fatherhood, coming back to life, the supernatural.
MESSAGE - We should honor death and accept it instead of fighting it.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
