Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Michael Myers is back and again stalking his original
victim, Jamie Lee Curtis.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Kissing (sometimes passionately in make-out sessions) and
sexual innuendo.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - There are several struggles - to the death. A man is hit
in the face with a cleat leaving a bloody wound, a man is hit in the back with a fire
poker and a man slits a woman's throat (more blood). A man is shot repeatedly leaving a
puddle of blood around his head and a man is stabbed in the back; he is shown with his
legs shaking and blood gushing from his mouth. A man gets an ax embedded in his shoulder
leaving blood on his shoulder and the ax. A man and a woman are stabbed repeatedly and a
woman is cut on the arm (with blood). A man is decapitated leaving a bloody neck.
Someone's leg is stabbed resulting in a bloody wound and knife (the bloody knife is seen
in many scenes), a leg is caught in a dumbwaiter and we see a bloody, broken, mangled leg;
plus we see a hanging, bloody corpse with only one leg. There are multiple punches to the
face, a man is hit in the head with a rock and a man is hit in the head with a fire
extinguisher. A man is hit by a car and a woman crashes into a car (we see her bloody face
and mouth); also a man is hit by a car that breaks his back. A man has very bloody chest
wounds and a woman has a bloody collar and sweater. A cut, gaping and bloody throat is
shown. We see bloody handprints on a door and two bloody hands. There are several chases,
threatening with guns and knives in many scenes, and several "jump" scenes. A
knife is swiped at two faces many times. We see a puddle and trail of blood and photos of
bloody crime victims.

PROFANITY 6 - About 14 F-words, many scatological references, a couple of
anatomical references, some mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
