John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as two complete opposites try to have a relationship in this musical set in the 1950's.

SEX/NUDITY 3 - Lots of suggestively sexual lyrics, discussions of sex (including masturbation and protection), and sexual innuendo. Three men's bare buttocks are seen. A group of women are seen in underwear. A few scenes of passionate kissing and an implied sex scene. A man tries to seduce a woman. A man peeps up some girls skirts.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A switchblade is drawn. A man is punched in the stomach, and another in the chest. A man gets knocked in the head with a car door. Two men shove each other around briefly. A man is pushed down. Reckless driving and racing.

PROFANITY 3 - A few scatological terms, several anatomical references, insults and a profane hand gesture. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Gangs, falling in love, being "cool," peer pressure.

MESSAGE - Don't be afraid you're going to seem "uncool" if you fall in love.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. INAPPROPRIATE ADS? We have little control over ads since we belong to ad agencies that serve ads automatically; a standing order should prevent provocative ads, but inappropriate ads do sneak in.
