Gran Turismo SEX/NUDITY 1

 – A young man and a young woman dance in a nightclub and they kiss and embrace. A young man and a young woman kiss. A young man and a young woman flirt at a party and lean closer together (they do not kiss onscreen).
A young man scrolls through photos of a young woman and remembers the last time they were together and we see them nearly kiss. A young man invites a young woman to join him on a trip.
A man changes his shirt in a car and we see his bare shoulders and chest.

Gran Turismo VIOLENCE/GORE 4

 – The nose of a car lifts off the track and the car flips several times and is thrown through spectators (we don’t see them being struck) as the driver’s parents watch on TV and panic for their son; the driver is airlifted and we see him in a hospital later (he has bruises on his face) as he is told that a spectator was killed in the crash and he becomes very upset. A car speeding on a track spins out and crashes into a wall exploding in flames (the driver crawls out and we hear that he is OK). Two cars crash together while on a track during a race; parts are thrown all around the track and a piece crashes into the windshield of another car shattering it (no one is injured). While in a race, a driver speeds close to another driver’s bumper, then slams into him causing him to lose control of his vehicle (no injuries are seen). While racing on a track, a driver tries to brake, the car spins out and slams into barrels along the track (there are no injuries).
While racing, a car blows smoke from under the hood and spins out onto the shoulder as a man tells a young man, “Cars explode all the time.” Racecars speed on a track and one car spins out (it does not crash). Many scenes contain roaring auto engines and screeching tires and some include speeding along tracks and passing vehicles in close proximity, in both a simulator and real life. A driver speeds into a gravel patch and spins out hitting a wall (we see the vehicle badly scratched and the driver is unharmed). A car slams another car against a wall (some sparks fly without injuries). Several scenes show a driver negotiating when and how to pass other cars at incredibly high speeds. A car is boxed in by two other cars during a race and the driver slams on the brakes to pull away, and then speeds around to pass. A 24-hour race is shown and the nighttime hours are rain-soaked and the roads become wet and slick; we hear a driver is cramping up and must be replaced by a teammate. When drivers accelerate to start races, they are thrown back into their seats and their heads slam against the headrests.
When police arrive where several young people are gathered and drinking beer, and the young people scatter and speed away from the area in two cars; people in each car reach out the windows to pass a beer between them, the cars bump together causing damage and police turn on their lights and sirens to pull them over; one car speeds away, chased by the police and through narrow roads to evade them, one passenger says, “I’m gonna puke,” (we do not see any vomit) and they get away. After a crash and fire on a track at the start of a race, a driver falls back in the running and struggles to overcome his fear as a sportscaster asks, “Is it a car problem or a head issue?”
A young man pushes a man after an incident on the track and tells him that he could have killed them both. A man pushes a younger man when he makes disparaging comments about him and a young man after an accident. A man tells a young man that another driver “plays dirty.” A man impugns a young man’s ability to be a good representative for a brand and a program because he is awkward and lacks “press readiness.” Two young men sneak out of their house at night and take their father’s car to a party; their father waits for them outside when they arrive home with a damaged car. We hear that drivers have launched a protest against SIM drivers claiming that their participation is dangerous. A driver slams his helmet to the ground after a crash. A man describes a crash that led him to leave auto racing because he lost his nerve; he explains that another driver was killed in the crash (we see that he has scars on his shoulder and back, from the crash and resulting fire). A pit crewmember loses a tire part and delays the driver from re-entering the race and several people yell at him.
Men discuss the danger of putting people that only have experience driving in a simulator behind the wheel of an actual racecar. A young man and his father argue in a few scenes about what the young man wants to do with his future. A man tells a young man that he makes mistakes when he becomes emotional and the young man becomes angry and pounds his hand on a table. When accepting a challenge in a racing simulator, a young man tells a competitor to “…bring his own coffin.” A man talks about the G-force levels that drivers withstand while racing and the necessity to train and be physically fit to succeed. A man tells a driver, “Mistakes can be deadly.” People tease a young man for listening to Kenny G and Enya before races to help him steady his nerves. A man tells a young man that everyone on his team will hate him (the pit crew, etc.)
A young man vomits while running and we see goo as a man tells him, “You puked on my grass.” People on a podium spray champagne on each other after shaking bottles.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
