Godzilla Minus One SEX/NUDITY 1

 – A man and a woman embrace.
When men realize that a woman and a man are living together without being married, they tease the man about not wanting a family.

Godzilla Minus One VIOLENCE/GORE 6

 – Alarm sirens blare on an island as men hear sounds coming from the ocean: we see a giant beast (it has large sharp teeth and claws and many spikes down its back and long tail) walk out of the water and toward land where it stomps on a watch tower that bursts into flames and bites several men, lifting them off the ground and throwing them off-screen (we see some blood at the bite); a man gets to his plane and prepares to blow the beast up with an explosive while other men yell and open fire with guns (to no effect) and the beast slams its tail on other men and structures, it lifts a plane off the ground and drops it, causing an explosion and a man on the ground is thrown but is later shown to be OK.
A giant beast marches through a city causing the ground to crumble beneath it, it slams buildings leaving them in rubble and people fall to the ground, it throws buses and vehicles and picks up a train in its mouth; we see a woman in a train car holding on as it is lifted into the air and she drops into water below (she surfaces and seems OK), people run and the beast slams its tail into buildings throwing rubble on the people fleeing; the beast is shot and falls to the ground before it regenerates with more spikes on its back and creates a glowing blast of energy that blows through the city and we hear and see people scream as they are thrown (we hear that 30,000 people were killed). Men on a boat see dead fish floating to the surface of the water and worry about being attacked by a giant beast; the beast lunges up out of the water and attacks a ship picking it up in its mouth, and swims toward the smaller vessel as the men aboard prepare weapons and try to speed away; the boat drops a mine into the water and detonates it when the beast puts it in its mouth (we see a large gash on its head and face and watch as it regenerates and seems fine); another mine is dropped into the water and it fails to ignite until a man shoots it with a gun, it blows up and another large vessel shoots the beast, it falls back into the water, it swims toward the larger ship and tips it causing men on board to slide off the deck; large weapons fire at the beast, and it fires a powerful blast of energy into the ship blowing it up.
As a ship sails we see a giant beast swimming beneath it; the ship lists and the beast rises out of the water, we hear sirens blaring on land and people trample and scream trying to evacuate; we see buses being thrown through the air and crashing into buildings. Several large ships sail dragging speakers that play the sound of a giant beast to attract it; the beast throws one vessel through the air and it crashes into a wall on land, then steps out of the water and walks toward a city until a plane distracts it and leads it back to the water; the beast fires up a powerful blast of energy and shoots a ship out of the water, other vessels speed toward the beast and drop many explosives into the water, they detonate but have no effect, guns open fire on the beast and a plane crashes into its mouth and explodes causing the beast to sink into the water and crumble.
Men on a boat search for mines under the water’s surface and blow them up with a large gun. We see a giant explosion and read that it is the Bikini Atoll nuclear bomb test. A plane lands on an island with a bomb attached to its undercarriage. We see the wreckage of a naval ship that is said to have been attacked by a giant beast.
A man hits another man in the back of the head causing him to fall to the ground, the injured man has his hands bound behind his back and the attacker punches him twice (we see some blood on his face and later with a swollen eye). A man yells and grabs another man by the lapels. A man wakes up in a hospital bed and we see that his head is bandaged. A woman is shown with bandages on her head and one arm in a sling. A man slams his head onto a table and a counter pleading with people to help him. A man becomes enraged and accuses another man of being responsible when he sees many bodies of men lined up on the ground after an attack by a giant beast.
A man returns to his home and sees many homes in rubble; he is confronted by a woman that blames him for the death of her children and she tells him that his parents are dead also. A man confronts a pilot about landing on an island and requesting assistance when there is nothing wrong with his plane. People discuss “dying honorably.” Men are told that they must not tell anyone about a giant beast because it will cause chaos and panic. A woman yells at a man and tells him, “I forbid you to die,” when he tells her that he will be searching the ocean for mines left after the war. A man explains that he “fled his duty” in the war and that he is “someone that was not supposed to survive.” A man says that he dreams of dead people calling to him and telling him to join them. A man demonstrates a plan to destroy a giant beast by sinking it to a deep trench in the ocean and crushing it under the pressure, and then discussing using a rapid decompression when raising it to the surface again.
A woman runs through a market chased by men that accuse her of stealing; she hands an infant to a man that tries to stand in her way and we learn that the child is orphaned and her mother asked the woman to take care of her as she was dying. A young girl cries for her mother when we think that she was killed by a giant beast. A man watches as what looks like dead fish float to the surface of the water.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
