Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Steven Seagal and Keenen Ivory Wayans are reluctantly
partnered to solve a string of serial killings.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Bare breasts seen on female corpses in a morgue, sexual
innuendo.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - Photos of bloody murder scenes and bodies. In a couple of
scenes we see bodies nailed to walls as if crucified with blood running down the wall.
Corpses are seen in morgue. A few throats are slit open with a razor resulting in bloody
gashes. A man is shot through the hand and foot with some blood. Threatening with guns and
knives, chases, reckless driving, explosions, falls, many fight scenes where people are
beaten up, sometimes with martial arts moves and we see punches, kicks and hear bones
breaking; there is blood sometimes (face, nose). Many shootings result in blood. A man's
head is beaten against a car, a man is impaled on a bulldozer shovel, a man falls and is
impaled through the chin on a fence.

PROFANITY 7 - About ten F-words, many scatological references, some mild
obscenities, many anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Law enforcement, serial killings, martial arts, Eastern
religions, framing innocent people.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
