Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Demi Moore is the first female to try to become a Navy
SEAL.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - A woman's bare buttocks are briefly seen twice. A woman is
seen in a skimpy bra. A couple bathe in a tub and we get a brief glimpse of her breasts.
Men are shown in boxer shorts. Kissing. Sexual innuendo.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A battle scene with gunfire, mines and grenades; the back
of a man's head is shot (with blood) and few other people are shot dead. A man is shot in
the knee (with blood splattering). Some fires and explosions (sometimes people are thrown
by the force). Recruits are fired upon during training. A heavy drum rolls over a man. A
few men beat up another with kicks and punches. A woman is smacked hard in the face which
results in a very bloody mouth and teeth. A woman is thrown hard against a pole. Very
bloody hands and knee are shown. A broken nose is reset with an audible crack, and thick
blood drips from the nose and mouth. Blood is smeared all over the faces of two people. A
man and woman punch and kick each other and the woman kicks the man in the crotch. An
attempted rape. Lots of scenes of military intimidation and hazing (yelling, pushing,
etc.). Plastic bags are put over two people's heads. Many scenes where people have very
bruised, sometimes bloody, faces.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
