MPAA Rating: PG

A very long history lesson (4 hours and 8 minutes) depicting the three days of the Battle of Gettysburg.

SEX/NUDITY 0 - None.

VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Although blood is kept to a minimum, it is impossible to depict the three days of this battle without displaying the mass killing which took place. We see many people being shot, bayonetted and blown up (there were more than 50,000 casualties during the battle). Dead animals are also shown, but never in close up. The camera spends time with some wounded or dying characters. In all of these cases we see their bloody wounds. The camera scans fields covered with dead and writhing bodies. There is a very frank discussion of the conditions in a field hospital.
