Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Craig (Ice Cube) loses his job and hangs out with his
friend Smoky (Chris Tucker) on a Friday afternoon.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - A couple of graphic and obscene sexual references. Two men
ogle a woman in tight clothes. A man and a woman are shown lying in bed presumably after
sex. A woman is shown with a great deal of cleavage showing and tight shorts that show the
bottom of her buttocks. A couple of men are shown in briefs.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - A man describes beating up on dogs. There are taunts and
threats between people. A man is hit in the face and goes flying before landing on the
ground. A man is bitten by a dog and we see his torn pants and a bandage on his buttocks.
There are many scenes of smoking pot. A man is threatened with a gun. Two people are
almost hit by a car. An extended fight scene where two people pummel each other; one ends
up with a bloody head and face. Some foot chases, and some yelling fights.

PROFANITY 10 - 50+ F-words, 40+ scatological terms, a large number of milder
obscenities, some graphic sexual references, a lot of racial slurs. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
