MPAA Rating: PG

Yet another sequel of the popular film about the friendship between a whale and a boy.

SEX/NUDITY 1 - A whale is pregnant. Later, she is shown giving birth in a scene that is more suggestive than explicit.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Whales are shot with spear guns. One off-screen, one on-screen. Willie is shown with a spear in him -- which gets removed. A boy cuts his shin. There is a barroom brawl -- there's nothing too graphic. People in the bar are drinking beer and other alcoholic drinks; some people are drunk. A man is knocked overboard. A man tries to stab Willie with a knife. A man is caught in a fishing net.

PROFANITY 2 - A couple of mild obscenities, scatological and anatomical references. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Illegal whale hunting, black market, parental authority.

MESSAGE - Stick up for yourself. Do what you think is right, even if it hurts.

Special Keywords: S1 - V3 - P2 - MPAAPG

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.

INAPPROPRIATE ADS? We have little control over ads since we belong to ad agencies that serve ads automatically; a standing order should prevent provocative ads, but inappropriate ads do sneak in.
