ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Tom Selleck, stars as a yuppie with an idyllic lifestyle,
who ends up having to care for his senile father (Don Ameche) and suddenly all that was
near and dear to him begins to slide down the dumper.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - No nudity. One mild love-making scene -- the focus is on the
faces.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - Slapstick violence throughout, except that Tom Selleck,
the recipient of most of it, actually receives injuries from the such treatment.
PROFANITY 2 - A scattering of colorful language. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - The common problem of adult children left to care for their
aging parents is the plot.
MESSAGE - The importance of family is the message, but told in an
inappropriate way by making fun of the old and infirm.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
