ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

Bob Hoskins plays a psychopathic catering manager who
befriends a pregnant, homeless teen (Elaine Cassidy) in this thriller. Also with Claire
Benedict, Brid Brennan, Sidney Cole, Kriss Dosanjh, Nizwar Karanj, Arsinée Khanjian,
Peter McDonald, Gerard McSorley, Sheila Reed, Danny Turner and Ali Yassine. [1:56]
SEX/NUDITY 2 - A little sexual innuendo and a couple of kisses. We see a
clothed boy on top of a clothed girl (only his shoulders and her face are visible) and
it's implied they're having intercourse (we see a little movement and hear some
heavy breathing).
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A person puts their head through a noose and jumps off a
counter. During a stage play, we see a severed head on a tray (a woman appears to be
kissing it). A few times we see a man grabbing a woman's arm to prevent her from
getting out of a car. A man chokes on some food and falls out of his chair; also we hear a
boy vomiting and see a man about to vomit. We see a girl with a bloody stain on her
nightgown.
PROFANITY 2 - A couple of mild obscenities and insults. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Abduction, abortion, unwed pregnancy, abandonment, serial
killing, isolation, dysfunctional parent/child relationships, forgiveness.
MESSAGE - Malevolence can be disguised as benevolence; sometimes it takes a
traumatic experience to make us understand ourselves and our purpose in life.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
