Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Billy Crystal and Robin Williams are putative fathers
tracking down their son.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Scantily clad women with lots of cleavage in club scenes,
suggestive dancing. Sexual innuendo (including masturbation and pedophilia references).
Kissing.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man is contemplating suicide with a gun to his head and
in his mouth. A man has hot coffee poured in his lap. A person is hit by a car and breaks
his arm. Lots of wild goings-on in a couple of punk rock concerts with scuffles, head
butts, people being thrown around and a man gets his cuff caught in a woman's nose ring. A
kick in the crotch and a kick in the shins. A man falls down a hill trapped in a portable
toilet. A few slaps in the head. A foot chase. Threatening with a gun.

PROFANITY 3 - A profane hand gesture, a couple of mild obscenities, some
anatomical references, a few scatological references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Fatherhood, teenagers, running away from home.
MESSAGE - Biology makes a father but only love makes a dad.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
