Why is “Expend4bles” rated R? The MPAA rating has been assigned for “strong/bloody violence throughout, language and sexual material.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes an implied sex scene, a kiss and a hug, partial nudity in an exotic dance club scene, discussions of sex acts, a woman and a child shot and killed off-screen, many people being killed by gunfire as well as explosions and stabbings in numerous extended fight scenes between many people, a few fight scenes between individuals using kicks and punches and throws, a few arguments and over 40 F-words and other strong language. Expend4bles SEX/NUDITY 5

 – A man and a woman wrestle and when the man pins the woman on her back on the floor, she pushes him down toward her abdomen and off-screen (implying oral sex); we then see them lying in bed embracing (sex is implied), the man is shirtless (we see his bare chest and abdomen) and the woman wears a lace negligee (we see cleavage). A man talks about his sex drive and describes sex acts in a few scenes; he defines and acts out alone golden showers in one scene. A man asks another man, “How they hangin'” and later says, “Keep ’em tucked” while touching his own clothed groin.
► A man and a woman kiss, and a woman and a man embrace.
► A man makes crude sexual remarks about and toward women as he records them for social media and another man tells him he should respect the women (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). After being wounded, a man asks a woman, “Can you kiss that and make it better?”
► Two exotic dancers perform in a bar and we see their bare buttocks, legs to the hips and cleavage as they spin around dance poles on a stage. Several women wearing swimsuits walk around a swimming pool and swim (we see cleavage, bare buttocks, legs to the hips and abdomens). A woman wears a tight-fitting short dress that reveals her bare legs to the upper thighs and cleavage. A phallus shaped figurine is shown on a bar counter holding a ring. A woman wears tight-fitting athletic wear that reveals cleavage, bare abdomen and the outlines of her breasts, legs and buttocks. A woman wears low-cut tops in several scenes that reveal cleavage and many tattoos on her chest and shoulders. A woman wears a tank top that reveals her nipples through the fabric.

 – A man fights several armed men as he moves through a compound building: he uses two pointed sticks to attack and stab several of them, one man is kicked out of a window (we see him fall as the glass shatters), he stabs one man through the shoulder with the stick, pins him behind a desk and questions him (we see blood on the man’s shirt later); he then threatens the man’s wife and child and we see the woman dead with a bloody bullet hole in her head as she is dropped on the floor, and the child is shot off-screen, as the man watches and yells.
► A helicopter shoots a man with high-powered weapons and the man is shown with his arm severed, his face missing and his body bloodied and in a heap. A man uses knives to attack several armed people and we see bloody wounds; one man is stabbed in the throat and we hear a crunch and see blood gush from the wound, and others are stabbed in the throat and slashed across the neck and throat with a lot of blood shown. Two men fight using knives, pointed sticks and kicks; one man is slashed on the face and we see some blood, they both flip over a railing and moan after crashing to a table and the floor below, they continue fighting and one man is stabbed in the shoulder (he pulls the knife out and we hear squishing and see blood on the blade) and he is then stabbed with an axe and the attacker steps on the blade to drive it deeper (we see blood and the wounded man moans). A man and a woman fight with another man using punches and kicks and the woman uses a chain to wrap around the man’s ankles and trip him, he is slashed on the arm (we see blood) and kicked until he falls through a hatch and slams on a platform below (we hear a splat and see blood splatter from his head). A man stabs and slashes several people and stabs one man through the back of the neck (we see the blade push through his throat). A man shoots another man in the head when he questions an order. A man shoots two men in the head and they fall dead with blood spurting.
► A man fights with many armed people, they exchange gunfire, other people join the fight and a man pulls the pin on a grenade on another man’s vest blowing him up; also, a man is stabbed in the back and falls moaning, and many other people are shot. Many armed people run through a large ship and are shot by the man they are searching for, and we see blood spurt as the bodies fall; people ride motorcycles through the ship shooting at each other and jumping the vehicles, one man jumps over another man, shoots at him and the second man’s motorcycle explodes throwing him overboard. Many armed vehicles move into a compound and an airship fires at people and vehicles on the ground causing many explosions, and bloody bodies are seen being thrown; a rocket is fired under a tank, it explodes and the tank is flipped over, a man shoots a couple of men as he walks toward a tank, and then stabs the operator in the throat (we hear a crunch and see blood). Two armed vehicles chase many other armed vehicles through a compound; they exchange fire and we see people being struck and falling dead with bloody wounds visible, a large hook pulls a machine gun off the roof of one vehicle as it passes through a warehouse, two men struggle in a vehicle with punches exchanged and one man’s head is removed (a lot of blood splatter) when it hits something outside the vehicle at high speed; two men jump between speeding vehicles, a man flips another man back and forth on the roof of a vehicle and then throws him to the ground as he speeds away. A vehicle is struck by another vehicle causing it to flip over (we see the people inside uninjured) and one man shoots the driver of the other vehicle in the head (we see blood). Several armed men shoot at a vehicle as it moves toward them slowly, they see a dead person in the driver’s seat and an explosive detonates and blows them through the air. A helicopter explodes throwing several people nearby through the air and the helicopter flips over a ship’s railing and into the ocean below. Several people are shot at and they take cover before sliding down a cable and onto a small vessel that drives away.
► A man slumps over in a chair and another man investigates and sees that he has been shot in the head (we see the bloody wound); the investigating man is then shot and thrown back against a wall with blood splattering, as other explosions occur around him. A man is strapped into a plane’s pilot seat as the plane crashes to the ground and we see his charred and bloody body after the crash. A cargo plane in the sky is shot and trails flames and smoke as it crashes through a compound and breaks apart; we see the pilot’s body badly charred and bloody.
► A man confronts another man about returning something that belongs to another man, they argue briefly and the first man hits several men in the area using brass knuckles (we see his hands bloodied) until one man picks him up off the ground and another man shoots at him; the man being shot at charges the man with the gun, is thrown over a bar, and crashes to the floor with bloody glass shards in his arms and chest and we see him lying unconscious. A man makes crude sexual remarks about and toward women as he records them for social media and another man tells him he should respect the women; when the first man confronts him, the second man head-butts him a few times, and then punches him repeatedly while he is on the floor (we do not see the resulting injuries).
► A man shoves another man and grabs his shirt, as other men separate them. A man and a woman wrestle, throw each other, slam through a door and the man pins the woman on the floor (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details). A man is struck in the head with a gun and falls unconscious. A man with a broom attacks another man and they fight briefly (no injuries are seen). Several armed people enter a room where many armed people jump out of hiding and hold them at gunpoint, take their weapons and lock them in a room. A man is shot at by many other men, he slumps behind a door and realizes he is out of ammo.
► A cargo vessel is shot at by a helicopter and it explodes, breaks in half and sinks as a bomb onboard detonates and creates a large plume of water. A ship’s direction is changed by dropping its anchor, slowing its engines, releasing the anchor and speeding up causing the ship to list, dump some of its cargo overboard and throw passengers around. Several people parachute out of a plane and land on a large cargo vessel underway in the sea; they arm themselves and move through the vessel. A man shoots a grappling hook with a cable from a small boat to a large vessel and climbs the cable onto the ship. A cargo plane is fired upon by surface-to-air weapons and we see explosions; the plane lands and vehicles are driven out of the back and speed away as the plane lifts off again.
► People argue and accuse each other of leaking details of a mission. People talk about the whereabouts of nuclear material. A man talks about a plan to detonate a weapon near Russia that will start World War III. A man threatens to cut another man’s hand off after he calls him names, referring to his stature. A man and a woman argue and the woman yells at the man before throwing a motorcycle helmet at him and slamming a door. A man describes how he wants to kill a man and uses graphic terms.
► A man urinates on a hatch in a ship and we see the stream of urine as the hatch pops open. A man has an ear injury and a couple of people ask him about it; he says that he was a wrestler and it is a common injury. A burned and decayed arm and hand is on display in a bar.
