1 to 10

MPAA Rating: R

Kurt Russell is back as Snake Plissken and now he has to retrieve a top-secret device from criminal elements in future L.A.

SEX/NUDITY 2 - Scantily clad women (one is seen with a thong and another has only pasties on her breasts).

VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - An earthquake leads to much property damage and aftershocks. We see a couple people electrocuted in the electric chair, lots of fighting and hitting with objects with some blood. A bloody corpse is used for target practice, lots of gunshots (sometimes machine gun fire) with some blood. Explosions, cutting and threatening with knives (some blood). Disfigured people and bloody body parts (eyes and head), a decapitation, gladiator-style entertainment with people fighting with and without weapons and being executed when they fail. Rioting, reckless driving, dangling on moving objects.

PROFANITY 5 - About four F-words, many scatological references, a few mild obscenities and anatomical references. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Political conservatism, the future, criminality, technological power.

MESSAGE - Freedom means freedom to decide your own moral code.

Our Ratings Explained

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
