A comet threatens Earth with total destruction. With Robert Duvall, Tea Leoni, Elijah Wood and Morgan Freeman.

SEX/NUDITY 1 - Discussions of sex. A woman wears a cleavage revealing dress.

VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - The impact of the comet on the Earth causes the deaths of millions of people (suggested). There are some scenes of rioting and huge tidal waves destroy many cities. A woman kills herself (not actually seen). A car careens off a road, crashes and explodes, while the driver is inside. A crew of astronauts is threatened by a planned nuclear explosion and a man is sucked into space. A man is shown with radiation burns on his face. Reckless driving and some explosions.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. INAPPROPRIATE ADS? We have little control over ads since we belong to ad agencies that serve ads automatically; a standing order should prevent provocative ads, but inappropriate ads do sneak in.
