ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|

Ellen Burstyn, Olympia Dukakis and Diane Ladd star as three
very close, widowed friends who must decide how they want to handle the remainder of their
lives.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - A woman undresses to the bra stage in front of a man; we see
their figures sitting on the edge of the bed kissing. There is talk of and use of condoms.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A man bites another man on the leg, after a brief scuffle.
One character slumps over a chair and dies, presumably after a heart attack.
PROFANITY 5 - The F-word and some name calling and scatological references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Death and its effects on the living. The fear of being alone
and of getting romantically involved again. Sex outside the bonds of marriage. Infidelity.
MESSAGE - Life goes on. Don't try to be someone or something you're not.
Value your friends.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
