Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
The sequel to "Candyman" has the man with a hook
running rampant again.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - A man and a woman are briefly seen on a balcony kissing, a
man and a woman are seen kissing at a street corner: the man is in a G-string and the
woman is totally nude (we can see the sides of her breasts) and there is the suggestion of
sex.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - Sketches and paintings of Candyman's horrific death are
seen throughout the film (his hand was cut off and then he was stung to death by bees).
Two men fight in a bar. A man is killed by a hook to the abdomen and shown in a huge pool
of blood. Several more people are hooked to death with huge amounts of blood. A woman
dreams of another having her throat slit. A man is killed by being covered and stung by
bees. A woman is threatened several times.

PROFANITY 6 - 8 F-words, a dozen scatological terms and a couple of milder
obscenities. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
