Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Three divorced friends (Paul Reiser, Randy Quaid and
Matthew Modine) share visitation woes and triumphs in this very '90s comedy.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - A man and woman kiss passionately, they take their shirts off
and the woman is seen in her bra. Another couple kiss passionately and roll about on the
couch and living-room floor while kissing and hugging. Some brief non-graphic comments
about sex.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A man is slapped in the face by his date. The
"violence" of divorce and visitation (some yelling between the couples, tears
from the kids during exchanges). A child throws up on her Dad. A man destroys his
ex-wife's porch in an extended scene. A man yells at and then tries to strangle a man. A
drunk teenager recklessly drives a car.

PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, two scatological terms and some milder
obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Divorce, visitation, dealing with teenagers.
MESSAGE - When you divorce your spouse, you don't divorce your kids.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
