Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Four fun-loving upscale friends (Bill Bellamy, Morris
Chestnut, D.L. Hughley and Shemar Moore) are "The Brothers" who must come to
grips with reality when one of them decides to get married. Also with Gabrielle Union,
Tamala Jones, Tatyana Ali and Julie Benz. [1:46]
SEX/NUDITY 7 - Lots and lots of sexual innuendo, including many references
to oral sex, multiple partner sex, masturbation and casual
sex. A woman unbuttons her
shirt and we see her in her bra; she proceeds to kiss a man passionately. We see a
shirtless man and a woman in her bra making out on a bed. We see the bare backs and
shoulders of a naked man and naked woman as they're having sex; the woman is on top of the
man and then the man is on top of the woman. A woman kisses a man's chest and then begins
to perform fellatio on him but stops; the man is upset and a long discussion about oral
sex and body parts follows (then the man tries to push the woman's head back down into his
crotch). We see a woman in her bra and a shirtless man kissing passionately in bed. A
woman in a nightgown dances suggestively and begins to strip for her husband; he's not
interested, so she stops and says she needs to go get some batteries (for her vibrator).
We see several scantily clad strippers and prostitutes (thong underwear, string bras) at a
bachelor party. A woman takes off a man's shirt and asks him if he'd like another woman to
join the two of them for a threesome. A woman unzips a man's pants and starts to shake his
penis but he tells her to stop (no nudity is visible); then she charges him for her
service. We see a woman wearing only a towel. A woman performs fellatio on a man (off
camera); but we do hear and see how pleased he is. We find out that a father and son have
dated the same woman.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A few times a man dreams of a woman pointing a gun and
firing a shot at him (but no one is ever hurt). Several shots are fired into an apartment,
breaking windows. A woman throws another woman onto a table and to the ground.

PROFANITY 6 - About a dozen F-words, many anatomical and scatological
references, several mild obscenities, some religious profanities, many racial slurs. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
