ASSIGNED NUMBERS |
|
|

John Travolta and Christian Slater are military
officers carrying nuclear bombs on a practice mission -- until one of them steals the
bombs. Also with Samantha Mathis, Delroy Lindo, Bob Gunton, Frank Whaley, Howie Long,
Vondie Curtis-Hall, Jack Thompson, Vyto Ruginis, Ousaun Elam, Shaun Toub, Casey Biggs,
Jeffrey J. Stephen and Joey Box. Directed by John Woo. [1:48]
SEX/NUDITY 0 - None.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A few gory scenes: a man gets whacked in the head with a
flying hammer and dies, a man gets run over by a truck, a man gets his windpipe whacked, a
man gets eviscerated by a helicopter propeller and a man gets slammed in the torso by a
flying bomb. A few people are shot and killed (there's a little blood and bodies jerking
from the bullets) and a there are a couple of shoot-outs. Many fistfights without blood;
however, one extended fistfight shows two men with bloody faces. There is a reckless car
chase and many explosions (people often jump and fall due to the explosions).
PROFANITY 6 - About 10 F-words, a few anatomical references, some
scatological references and many mild obscenities. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - The military, nuclear bombs, megalomania and insanity.
MESSAGE - Push yourself to go above and beyond the call of duty.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
