A virtual reality game becomes real, with violent results.
With Edward Furlong.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - A teenage boy watches his sweetheart undress through a
telescope, and she is briefly shown topless. They later make-out in her bedroom.
VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - There is a car crash in which a woman is killed and her
child is injured. A vampire is chopped up on TV. A sleeping victim is stabbed and his foot
severed (the foot is later found in a refrigerator and is then carried around by a dog). A
video game character breaks his own fingers, but they repair themselves, and he later eats
a raw chicken. A character is crushed by falling bricks, and a another is shot.
PROFANITY 6 - The F-word is employed numerous times, as well as scatological
and anatomical references. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Random murder, voyeurism, lack of parental guidance.
MESSAGE - Some vague point about the mesmerizing effect of video games.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
