Based on the classic children's story, and taking place in
19th century England, "Black Beauty" tells a horse's tale of woe, from loving
masters to hard times.
SEX/NUDITY 0 - None.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - The slightly bloody birth of a foal is shown. There are
many scenes of animal mistreatment resulting in their becoming ill or dying. Two horses
are ridden too hard, and one ends up with bad knees. A horse's corpse is briefly shown,
and a horse falls while trying to pull a heavy cart.
PROFANITY 0 - None. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Mistreatment of animals, the upper class vs. the lower class.
MESSAGE - A well-treated animal is a good animal. It is better to try to
