Nicole Kidman stars as a woman whose husband dies unexpectedly. Ten years pass and while she still cannot let go of her grief, she agrees to marry another man (Danny Huston) who loves her very much. However, one evening a boy (Cameron Bright) enters their home and insists that he is her dead husband re-incarnated. The boy shares many intimate details of their relationship and she struggles between believing him and sending him away. Also with Lauren Bacall and Alison Elliot. Directed by Jonathan Glazer. We see a baby being born underwater (no details below the waist).

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man grabs a boy by the foot and begins to drag him out of a room, the man is pulled off the boy, the man chases the boy into a room where he lays him across his knee and spanks him repeatedly (many people look on, in disbelief). A woman shoves a boy into a chair, chases the boy through a hallway and shoves him against a door, and they struggle over a backpack. A man collapses while jogging and we understand that he has died. A woman grabs a boy by the arms, shakes and yells at him. A boy is chased by the police, briefly. A woman confronts a boy and speaks to him sternly and the boy collapses. Our Ratings Explained

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.

INAPPROPRIATE ADS? We have little control over ads since we belong to ad agencies that serve ads automatically; a standing order should prevent provocative ads, but inappropriate ads do sneak in.
