This time Beethoven meets a female St. Bernard, and they
have puppies, which are then nabbed and sold for profit. That's when the mayhem begins.
With Charles Grodin.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - One instance where a teenage boy tries to get a girl into
bed. But nothing happens. Flirting. A female dog has puppies.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - A few chases between Beethoven's family, the dogs and
villains, and one instance when Beethoven pulls a home off its foundation and drops it --
and the people in it -- into a lake. A confrontation between good guys and bad guys. A
couple fall of a precipice and into a river. Beethoven threatens some threatening
pre-teens.
PROFANITY 1 - A few mild insults. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Kidnapping, date rape, divorce.
MESSAGE - Love will always prevail -- there's someone out there for
everyone. Dogs are the greatest.

A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process. |
