Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.
Val Kilmer is Batman and Chris O'Donnell is his sidekick
Robin in the third "Batman" film. The enemies are Harvey Two-Face (Tommy Lee
Jones) and The Riddler (Jim Carrey).
SEX/NUDITY 2 - A handful of passionate kisses. A man is shown bare-chested,
and a woman is shown in bed -- and then out of bed with sheets wrapped around her. Two
women wear clinging, suggestive clothing, exposing cleavage. A man grabs his crotch to
punctuate an explosion. Several sexual references and innuendoes.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - The only "gross" parts are Two-Face's make-up
job (garish, with wrinkles and creases) and another character's face which seems to melt,
causing his face to be off-kilter. A bit of blood from a bullet wound. There are many
explosions: several bombs are thrown into water and into the air. A helicopter flies into
the Statue of Liberty where it explodes. Many punch up scenes with people being tossed
around and punched and kicked; guns are also used. A man is electrocuted. A man is pushed
out of a window to his death, and several other people fall from a building. A couple of
hostage and robbery situations.

PROFANITY 2 - A couple of mild obscenities, some sexual references and an
anatomical gesture. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Revenge, falling in love, psychiatry, multiple personalities
disorder, using technology for evil.
MESSAGE - Revenge isn't always the answer; friendship and love are the most
important things in life.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.

Alert local & national media: Let major media know why you trust our ratings. Call or e-mail a local newspaper, radio station or TV channel and encourage them to do a story about our site. Since we do not have a PR firm working for us, you can be our media ambassadors.
