Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.
Story of the early, pre-Ringo Beatles, about their years in
Hamburg.
SEX/NUDITY 9 - There are approximately ten scenes which include full frontal
female nudity. There are also four explicit sex scenes. One in which we see a completely
naked woman and the backside of a naked man. Another scene in which a character moons a
photographer. Some very brief scenes of men kissing, and a few explicit photos.
VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - One scene in which two men are beaten and left with bloody
mouths and noses. Another couple of mild brawls, primarily shoving and punching. There is
another scene in which a character goes berserk, beats another severely and destroys a
room. A man dies from a brain hemorrhage, and although there is no real violence, his
death is depicted.

PROFANITY 8 - The F-word is used about 10 times, along with a British term
meaning the same thing, as well as an assortment of anatomical and scatological
references, and profane insults. [profanity glossary]
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period. While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
