Unlike the MPAA we do not assign
one
inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
A new, improved, genetically cloned Ripley (Sigourney
Weaver) fights the Beast once again.
SEX/NUDITY 5 - No sex, but there is the implication of a sexual encounter
between human and alien. Brief female frontal nudity in a non-sexual manner (one woman in
a scientific test tube; another lying on an autopsy table). Some brief sexual banter and
innuendo. A man suggestively massages a woman. A man physically threatens a woman in a
sexually aggressive manner.
VIOLENCE/GORE 9 - Two violent, bloody gunfights, and several frightening,
extremely graphic alien vs. human showdowns with human blood and acidic alien blood
splattered about. A woman is choked and shocked with a tazer, a woman is shot, a woman
drowns and a woman is bashed in the face with a metal weight. Several men are shot and
killed, with bloody bullet holes. A man is bitten through his chest and dies, and a man
gets bitten in his head; as he dies, he pulls out a portion of his own brains and examines
them. A man's head is bitten in two by an alien (with exposed brains and gore). A man is
rapidly frozen and breaks apart. A man's face is severely burned from alien acid blood.
Several men are shown with bloody, gaping chest wounds. A man is incinerated. Several men
are slaughtered by an alien, with blood splattering and pieces of flesh strewn about. A
man's head is squeezed open by an alien. A woman stabs herself in the hand with a dagger.
A man convulses and coughs blood as an alien bursts through his chest. A human/alien clone
is torn apart and sucked out into space, piece by piece, through an airhole.

PROFANITY 8 - Over 20 F-words, several anatomical references and
scatological references, a few mild obscenities. One profane hand gesture. [profanity glossary]
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Genetics, cloning, terrorism, the Military, extraterrestrial
life.
MESSAGE - It's not wise to fool with Mother Nature.
A CAVEAT: We've gone through several editorial changes since we
started covering films in 1992 and some of our early standards were
not as stringent as they are now. We therefore need to revisit many
older reviews, especially those written prior to 1998 or so; please
keep this in mind if you're consulting a review from that period.
While we plan to revisit and correct older reviews our resources are
limited and it is a slow, time-consuming process.
