1 to 10

MPAA Rating: PG-13

After his wife dies in a car accident, a devastated Washington Post journalist (Richard Gere) is intrigued by odd drawings in the sketchpad she left behind. He soon finds himself in a small West Virginia town investigating strange apparitions and psychic phenomena that seem connected with his wife's drawings. Also with Laura Linney, Will Patton, Debra Messing and Nesbitt Blaisdell. [1:59]

SEX/NUDITY 4 - A man and woman kiss passionately, caress each other and lie back on the floor continuing to kiss briefly until they are interrupted (we see the woman's bare abdomen and see that her pants are undone). A young man and woman kiss passionately and caress each other while in a car; we see the young man's bare chest and back, and the girl in her bra. A man and woman kiss romantically several times. We see a nude woman in a shower; the glass door is fogged up and her figure is evident but that's all. A photo of a woman in a bathing suit shows some cleavage (we see this photo many times). A man and woman hug.

VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - A bridge begins to give way under the weight of many cars; the cables snap, girders break, the roadway crumbles, people in their cars panic, scream and run, the bridge splits in half and dumps cars and people into the water below. A woman drives her car fast, loses control and we see her head hit the window and crack it; she then slumps over the steering wheel unconscious. A man knocks on the door of a house and a man on the inside opens the door with a shotgun pointed at him; the man outside is grabbed and shoved into a bathtub and threatened with the gun. A man jumps into water and swims to a sinking car with an unconscious woman trapped inside; he frees her and swims to the surface. A man discovers a dead man sitting at the foot of a tree (he died from exposure). A man asleep in bed rolls over and imagines his dead wife next to him. A man yells at and shakes a woman. A man burns his hand on a pot of boiling water, a man kicks and punches tables and doors in frustration, a man slams a telephone receiver onto a table repeatedly, and a man pulls a telephone wire out of the wall. We hear news reports of disasters that kill many people (a plane crash and an earthquake). We see a woman in a hospital bed and when she regains consciousness she pulls away from her husband in fear. There are several supernatural events, and we see an odd figure that's very hard to discern: A young man and woman in a car see a very bright light and an odd figure; when it disappears the young man has bloody eyes. A man in his truck is surrounded by bright light and approached by an odd figure; he quakes and appears terrified. There's a very quick glimpse of an odd figure with red features in a mirror. Contributing to the overall tension of the film, there are many references to people having seen strange things which frighten them; some descriptions are detailed; we see several drawings which depict what people have apparently seen: they are of a winged creature and look like Rorschach Inkblots. A woman talks about having seen a huge being with red eyes, we hear strange sounds and voices over a telephone and coming from a drain, and a man senses that something is behind him or near him repeatedly. A man panics when he fears a disaster is about to happen. A man imagines slamming his head into a mirror shattering the glass. Some blood trickles from a man's ear. We hear that a woman has died. A dream sequence shows a woman struggling to stay above water but she eventually sinks under the surface.
