inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE
and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest,
depending on quantity and context.
Somewhat-fictionalized biopic of Jacqueline Susann (Bette
Midler), whose dream of being famous finally materialized when she wrote the seamy, best
selling novel Valley of the Dolls. Also with Nathan Lane, Stockard Channing, John
Cleese, David Hyde Pierce, Amanda Peet, Jason Fuchs, John Larroquette, Richard McConomy,
Rebekah Mintzer, Dina Spybey, Sam Street and Frank Vincent. [1:35]
SEX/NUDITY 4 - Lots of sexual innuendo (including references to lesbianism
and anal sex) and some kisses. We hear and see some "erotic" but not graphic
passages from the novel Valley of the Dolls. One presumably post-coitus scene in
which a woman wearing a robe and a fully dressed man are talking in a hotel room. In the
opening credits, we see illustrations of scantily clad or nude but strategically posed
women, only slightly more revealing than an average romance novel cover. Lots of
cleavage-revealing outfits.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - A woman is shot in a stage play and women scuffle in a
scene from a movie. We see a very ill-looking woman lying in a hospital bed.

PROFANITY 6 - About 9 F-words, a profane gesture, several anatomical
references and slang terms, several scatological references, several mild obscenities, a
