Sex & Nudity
Violence & Gore
Profanity
1 to 10

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Kevin Costner plays an aging Detroit Tigers pitcher standing at the crossroads of life: behind him is his glorious 19-year baseball career; ahead of him is life with the woman he loves. With Kelly Preston, John C. Reilly, Jena Malone, Brian Cox, Michael Neeley. [2:00]

SEX/NUDITY 4 - Some sexual innuendo (including a reference to a flashlight doubling as a vibrator). A few quick kisses and two rather passionate kisses, one of which takes place in an elevator and the couple ends up in bed together (we don't see them passionate in bed; we just see him the next morning, fully clothed, talking to her while she's still in bed covered by a sheet). We see a man and woman lying in bed together, presumably post-coitus (again, no nudity). We see a woman in her underwear and a sports bra, a man wearing underwear and a shirt, a shirtless man (seen in a few scenes), and a presumably nude but sheet-covered woman in bed.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A man's hand gets caught in a table saw; we don't see the hand go into the saw but we do see the man holding up his bloody arm afterwards.

PROFANITY 5 - One F-word, several anatomical references, many scatological references, a few mild obscenities and insults. [profanity glossary]

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Loyalty, drinking, sex, relationships, friendships, single-parenting, teenage pregnancy, professional sports, making tough decisions.

MESSAGE - A perfect game in baseball isn't such a perfect occasion if you can't celebrate it with the person you love.
