A sports enthusiast (Lil Rel Howery) spends his life savings to enter a team in Harlem's Rucker Classic street basketball tournament. After many false starts, he loses his team to his rival (Nick Kroll) and in desperation he seeks help from legendary Uncle Drew (Kyrie Irving), who accepts the challenge and brings a team of 70-year-old ailing All Stars with him (Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson and Lisa Leslie). SEX/NUDITY 4 - A man and a woman kiss passionately for several seconds. A man and a woman kiss briefly and hug in two scenes.
 A close-up shows a woman wearing shorts as she twerks against a man wearing jeans and as a male onlooker says, "She'll get him pregnant if she keeps dancing that way"; several other couples dance closely, rubbing against each other. A man grabs his crotch in two scenes.
 We hear that a man had sex with his friend's wife, dated another man's mother and sister, dated another man's 8th grade teacher and had a foot fetish. A man says that another man used Viagra or "two sticks and a rubber band" to do it. A man says that he has a room in the back of his van called the Boom Boom Room.
 We see a woman from the waist up wearing a large towel that shows cleavage and we see a shirtless man (recent sex is implied). A man wearing a knee-length hospital gown dances in place and the camera cuts to his back to show us his back and wiggling hips for a few seconds. A man lifts his jersey to show a column of years tattooed on his chest and abdomen. A few scenes feature women wearing low-cut blouses and tights, revealing moderate cleavage and accentuating hip curves. A woman wears a bikini top with jeans, revealing cleavage and abdomen; she later wears the bikini top under a mesh top. A party scene features several women wearing short dresses and short shorts that reveal bare legs to the upper thighs, with a few low-cut blouses revealing cleavage.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man has a heart attack while playing basketball and collapses; EMTs do CPR and the camera cuts to the unconscious man in a hospital bed with an oxygen tube at his nose, a blood pressure sensor on one finger and an IV line in one arm. Basketball footage shows a man breaking his ankle in a long shot (we hear a crack) and a close-up shows the wrapped ankle. An angry older man punches another elderly man with a roundhouse punch, causing unconsciousness but no injury shows. A man hits his head on a pole, lies unconscious and another man runs into him and sprains his ankle, groaning.
 Two men argue in a few scenes. An elderly man and a twentysomething man argue in several scenes. An older couple argues in a few scenes and a younger couple argues loudly in three scenes. A woman throws her boyfriend out of her apartment, screaming at him. Two women scream and threaten each other on a basketball court and then leave quickly. Two elderly men argue on a basketball court briefly. Two younger men argue on a basketball court, fall and scuffle (no injuries are seen).
 A legally blind man drives his van backwards along a street as an angry woman in an SUV chases him and people in other cars scream; at a traffic light, the SUV driver swings a baseball bat, but misses the van, she continues to chase the van, which spins around and rushes onto a freeway, where the woman stops because she dislikes highways. A blind man in an arcade shoots basketballs but hits walls and narrowly misses people. An old man in a wheelchair is said to be on psychiatric lockdown and seems catatonic but catches a basketball and gets up and walks when someone puts his favorite shoes on his feet. An elderly preacher holds a baby over a baptismal pool, passes him around his body like a basketball, and is stopped from slam dunking the child into the water; he then puts a man into the pool and holds him under water several times. A man steps on and crushes the figurine top of a trophy. A man pops a large bubblegum bubble beside another man's face, angering the second man.
 In a flashback, a man has a nightmare of losing a basketball game as an orphan, and everyone walking out on him. Basketball spectators shout and cheer loudly as men play ball, pushing and shoving. Two elderly men visit the grave of a woman among several tombstones in a grave yard.
 On a road trip, an elderly man asks to stop several times to urinate (we do not see this), and another man says that old men smell like pee pots.

SUBSTANCE USE - A woman tells an elderly man to take his pills (we see no pills and he refuses to take any). A cocktail party features bottles of beer in the hands of a dozen men and women and a few people drink briefly from them.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Orphans, sports rivalries, sports heroes, senior citizens, problems of aging, motivation, self-confidence, risk taking, loss, winning, love, respect, relationships, family, grudges, communication, forgiveness.

MESSAGE - Basketball can bring people together if played with good sportsmanship.
